COVID-19 is the disease caused by the novel Coronavirus first discovered in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China in December 2019. The novel Coronavirus was recently named “SARS-CoV-2” because it is related to the SARS-CoV virus that was first identified in 2003. Both SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 can cause severe respiratory disease.
