Follow the steps outlined below to purchase radiation-producing machines, lasers, and/or electron microscopes in Workday. Note that procurement of Laser (Class 3B or 4), X-Ray, MRI, or Electron Microscope equipment greater than $5000 requires completion of a brief questionnaire to satisfy regulatory compliance.


How to Order
  1. Log into Workday. At the main page, click on the “View All Apps” link at the bottom of the Your Top Apps box.
  2. At the left-hand menu, click on “Purchases”.
  3. Under Actions, click on “Request Non-Catalog Items”.
  4. Fill in all starred fields.
    • Under “Requisition Type” scroll down and select
      Radioactive Materials AND/OR Radiation Equipment/Devices, Non-Radiation Producing Devices (Class 3B or 4 Lasers), or Electron Microscope​” – see Figure 1.
  5. Click on the “OK” button.
  6. At the Request Non-Catalog Items page, fill in all starred
    fields.
    1. The following spend categories are allowed under the Requisition Type noted above:
      • Radioactive Research Supplies (SC0231)
      • Laser (Class 3B or 4), X-Ray, MRI, or Electron Microscope Equipment $5000 or Greater (SC1231)​. NOTE: Selecting this spend category prompts the Requestor to complete a brief questionnaire. A notification is routed to EH&S for informational purposes only.
    2. Click on the Spend Category field to select the desired one.
  7. Click on the “Add to Cart” button when complete.
  8. To view the Cart contents and submit the request, click
    on the Cart icon in the upper right-hand corner.
