Illicit Use
An employee who has knowledge of illicit use of a controlled substance or its diversion by another employee at USC is obligated to report such activities following University reporting policy (21 CFR 1301.91). Reported activities are treated with confidentiality by the University and sensible steps are taken to protect the confidentiality and identity of the employee providing the information.
Consequences
The University complies with all Federal and State laws. Illegal possession, sale, use, or diversion of controlled substance is a criminal offense. Failure to report the illicit use of a controlled substance or its diversion will be considered in determining the likelihood of allowing an employee to continue working at the University. The University will assess the seriousness of an employee’s violation, in determining whether to suspend, transfer, terminate or take other action against the employee.
