Since COVID-19 restrictions went into effect in March 2020, the university has remained in step with guidance from the CDC, local State and City authorities. Reputable organizations such as the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) have also provided parameters and guidelines related to air and water distribution systems within our built environment.
Throughout the pandemic, USC has maintained water and air distribution systems and modified touchpoint cleaning procedures to ensure building readiness. As occupancy increases within buildings, the university will continue adherence to the built environment guidelines.
When a building is listed as “ready”, it meets or exceeds the minimum required:
- air change rate guidelines
- outside air & ventilation guidelines
- air filtration guidelines
- water flushing guidelines
- cleaning guidelines (for the university), based on the space and usage
Buildings are open to the campus community, and accessible as per the discretion of the department, during normal business hours. Buildings will have restricted access during after-hours.
